Commercial Driver 2

Commercial Drivers Program

Maintaining safe vehicles is important to your business. But maintaining a healthy and productive workforce is important too. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there were more than 5,000 fatal work injuries in the United States in 2007. The second highest rate of fatalities was in transportation and warehousing, second only to the construction industry.

Professional drivers are at higher risk than other industries for developing a number of health-related problems and conditions, including:

  • Poor nutritional habits
  • Obesity
  • Sleep apnea
  • Hypertension
  • Heart disease
  • Tobacco use
  • Drug and alcohol use
  • Back pain Stress
  • Lack of exercise

To ensure safety, drivers must meet all federal regulations for fitness and suitability to drive. Unfortunately, in many cases, the drivers fail to meet the health requirements of the job. That means lost wages for them and lost productivity for you.

Worksite wellness programs work

Worksite wellness programs provide you with a long-term answer for keeping employees well, productive, and continually on the job. When employees are healthier, the company benefits in many ways, such as:

  • Lower healthcare costs
  • Reduced lost time due to injury and illness
  • Increased productivity
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Greater employee satisfaction / retention

Every dollar invested in worksite wellness is returned to your company through less absenteeism, improved health habits and morale, lower medical costs and increased output from healthier employees.
