For those patients afflicted with pulmonary disease, life can sometimes be frustrating and even frightening. When you are unable to use the full capacity of your airways, even everyday activities like gardening or climbing a flight of stairs can become daunting. That is why each patient of Pulmonary Services is assigned a team of experts who have a vast understanding of pulmonary conditions and access to the latest technologies for fast, accurate diagnoses and treatment. Our mission is to help everyone who comes through our doors breath easier.
Credentialed respiratory therapists administer the most innovative therapies to treat patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions. Our therapists also care for critically ill patients who may require airway management and the application of life support systems in the Emergency Department, Coronary Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Pulmonary Function & Bronchoscopy
Pulmonary Function describes a broad range of breathing tests used to diagnose lung diseases or disorders such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These tests measure how well the lungs take in and exhale air, and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood.
Bronchoscopy is a procedure during which a pulmonary physician inserts a lighted endoscope into the trachea and advances it into segments of the airways. It may be used for either therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, such as to treat bronchial inflammation by clearing the airways, or to biopsy tissue in the lungs in order to make an accurate cancer diagnosis.
Sleep Disorders Program
Pulmonary Services works in conjunction with EJGH's Sleep Center to help diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and chronic snoring. These conditions are identified through sleep studies conducted in our Sleep Center. After diagnosis a treatment plan is then designed to restore restful sleep.
