A Fib Support Group

Dr James McKinnie, M.D. and Dr. Zhen Jiao, M.D., offers education and support for people with atrial fibrillation (A Fib). The support group will provide information on procedures as well as medications. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every other month in Esplanade 3. Family members/caregivers are invited. A.W.A.K.E. (Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic)

This group offers information and support for those dealing with sleep apnea or other sleep disorders. Call (504) 849-8700 for dates, times and locations.

Better Breathers Club

This support group is for people with chronic conditions, like asthma and COPD, that affect breathing. Family members are welcome to attend. Call (504) 503-6321 for dates, times and locations.

Bosom Buddies

Bosom Buddies is an education and support group for women with breast cancer, their families and caregivers. Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Breast Care Center. Call (504) 503-5594 for more information.

Breastfeeding Support Class

Let our lactation experts help you transition into successful breastfeeding so that your baby can have a healthy start to life. Learn about the nutritional value of breast milk, your baby's weight gain, milk supply concerns and more. Share advice with other moms on ways to help a fussy baby, manage sore nipples and breastfeeding in public. Speak with a certified lactation specialist, have your baby's weight checked, get advice and tips, also, meet and share experiences with other mothers. Classes are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Call 504-456-5000 to register. 

Cancer Survivors Group

The Cancer Survivors Group is an ongoing networking and educational series for patients, family and care givers. A "cancer survivor" is someone who is living with, through or beyond cancer. The group meets the third Wednesday of every other month, 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Call (504) 456-5000 to register and for room location.

Celiac Sprue Association

This group offers education and support for people with celiac disease/ gluten intolerance. Meetings are held at 7:00 pm in the East Jefferson General Hospital Conference Center on the last Tuesday of January, April, August, and October. Registration is not required, and family members are invited to attend. For additional information, call (504) 503-4077.

Compassionate Friends

This group is for families who have experienced the loss of a child. Meetings are the second Monday of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm in the EJGH Conference Center. Call (504) 265-0581 for more information.

Defibrillator Support Group

Meets 3rd Thursday of every other month. Call (504) 503-4145 for dates and location.

Diabetes Support Group

Sponsored by the Diabetes Management Center, this group meets on the last Thursday of each month from Noon to 1 pm. Members share information and support each other to promote successful diabetes management. New members are welcome. Please call (504) 503-4165 for more information.

Epilepsy Support Group

Short term counseling provides assistance in coping with the initial diagnosis of a seizure disorder, temporary and chronic difficulties and stress management. Efforts ar directed toward promoting the healthy functioning of persons with epilepsy in accordance with their own goals and reaching their potential. Grief Support Group

This support group is for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Meetings are held on Saturdays, twice a month, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Dreyfous Rooms.

Look Good… Feel Better

This national program helps women look and feel their best during Cancer treatment. Call (504) 503-5594 for dates and times.

Ostomy Support Group

Education and support are offered to those coping with the challenges of living with an ostomy. Meetings are bi-monthly. Call (504) 503-4941 for dates, times and locations.

Parkinson's Support Group

A very compatible, upbeat group. We share information on new treatments and medications; discuss tips/tricks for living well with Parkinson's and offer each other positive reinforcement in good times and not so good times. Meetings are the last Monday of each month, 1 pm to 3 pm, with a guest speaker. Call (504) 905-6355 for more information.

Sarcoidosis Support Group

Designed for those living with sarcoidosis, a chronic condition that often involves the lungs and causes difficulty breathing. Call Sherry Amadon at (504) 503-6320 for dates and times.

Stroke Support Group

This group offers support to stroke survivors and their families. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the 8th floor gym. Call (504) 503-4975 for further information.
