A Fib Support Group
Dr James McKinnie, MD, offers education and support for people with atrial fibrillation (A Fib). The support group will provide information on procedures as well as medications. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every other month beginning October 3, 2012 from 6:30pm-7:30pm in Esplanade 3. Family members/caregivers are invited. Please provide name of cardiologist upon registering.
A.W.A.K.E. (Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic)
This group offers information and support for those dealing with sleep apnea or other sleep disorders. Call (504) 849-8700 for dates, times and locations.
Better Breathers Club
This support group is for people with chronic conditions, like asthma and COPD, that affect breathing. Family members are welcome to attend. Call (504) 456-5000 for dates, times and locations.
Bosom Buddies is an education and support group for women with breast cancer, their families and caregivers. Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Breast Care Center. Call (504) 883-8989 for more information.
Cancer Survivors Group
The Cancer Survivors Group is an ongoing networking and educational series for patients, family and care givers. A "cancer survivor" is someone who is living with, through or beyond cancer. The group meets the third Wednesday of every other month, 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Call (504) 456-5000 to register and for room location.
Celiac Sprue Association
This group offers education and support for people with celiac disease/ gluten intolerance. Meetings are held at 7:00 pm in the East Jefferson General Hospital Conference Center on the last Tuesday of January, April, August, and October. Registration is not required, and family members are invited to attend. For additional information, call (504) 454-4077.
This group is for families who have experienced the loss of a child. Meetings are the second Monday of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm in the EJGH auditorium. Call (504) 265-0581 for more information.
Defibrillator Support Group
Meets 3rd Thursday of every other month. Call (504) 454-4145 for dates and location.
Diabetes Support Group
Sponsored by the Diabetes Management Center, this group meets on the last Thursday of each month from Noon to 1 pm. Members share information and support each other to promote successful diabetes management. New members are welcome. Please call (504) 454-4165 for more information.

Epilepsy Support Group
Short term counseling provides assistance in coping with the initial diagnosis of a seizure disorder, temporary and chronic difficulties and stress management. Efforts ar directed toward promoting the healthy functioning of persons with epilepsy in accordance with their own goals and reaching their potential. Grief Support Group - Life after Loss
This support group is for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Meetings are held on Mondays from 5:30 to 7 pm in the Foundation Board Room across from the Sunshine Boutique. Call (504) 456-5000 to register.
Infant Loss Support Group
The Perinatal Bereavement Support Group at East Jefferson General Hospital is open to anyone at anytime in their journey who has experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. Families meet to discuss coping strategies and to offer their support and compassion.
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6pm. Fourth floor classroom in the Woman and Child Department at EJGH. To attend, please register through HealthFinder at (504) 456-5000.

Look Good… Feel Better

Ostomy Support Group
Education and support are offered to those coping with the challenges of living with an ostomy. Meetings are bi-monthly. Call (504) 454-4941 for dates, times and locations.
Parkinson's Support Group
A very compatible, upbeat group. We share information on new treatments and medications; discuss tips/tricks for living well with Parkinson's and offer each other positive reinforcement in good times and not so good times. Meetings are the last Monday of each month, 1 pm to 3 pm, with a guest speaker. Call (504) 456-5000 for more information.
Sarcoidosis Support Group
Designed for those living with sarcoidosis, a chronic condition that often involves the lungs and causes difficulty breathing. Call (504) 454-4882 or (504) 780-0139 for dates and times.
Stroke Support Group
