Leah Woolf, Wellness Center Director
Leah began her career in the fitness industry, at the age of 16. She obtained her certification as a fitness instructor and began teaching at a health club in Boutte, LA. She assumed a management role here and would continue to advance her education. Leah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2006 and is the Director of East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center. She has a passion for fitness and additional certifications include certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Certified group exercise instructor through AFAA, and certified to teach 6 of 8 Les Mills programs. In Leah's spare time she is a member of the Voodoo Peloton cycling group, participates in charity bike rides, and participates in sprint triathlons.
Jessica Hotard, Wellness Center Supervisor
Jessie received her bachelor's degree in Kinesiotherapy and her masters in Sports Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi. She has worked in the health and fitness industry since 2006. Jessie holds several certifications in Aquatic Exercise (AEA), Personal Training (ACE), Les Mills BODY PUMP, Les Mills RPM, and Water Safety. She also has been acknowledged as a "Great 39" team member for the hospital. For 6 years Jessie has worked at the Wellness Center teaching land and water classes, serving as a full-time Health Fitness Instructor, shift lead and a personal trainer for the Wellness Center.
Jessie has always had a passion for fitness and has played a variety of sports since she was 6. In the past she has been an assistant coach for a local varsity high school soccer team and head JV coach, a canoeing instructor for an all-girls summer camp, played intramural cabbage ball, softball and soccer and currently enjoys biking, volleyball and tennis. Jessie's goal is to motivate people to be excited about exercise and to have a more fulfilled and healthy life.

Lauren Fremin, Corporate Supervisor
Lauren Fremin received her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Clinical Exercise Physiology. During that time, her interest and passion for health, fitness, and wellness grew tremendously, leading her to pursue a Master's degree in Health Promotion. As a Health Promotion graduate student, she worked for Mississippi State University's Health Education and Wellness Department designing, implementing, and evaluating wellness initiatives on and off campus. Lauren's experience with geriatrics and corporate wellness cultivated when she began working for Forrest General Hospital's Wellness Center as an Exercise Physiologist and Health Coach.
Prior to her career with EJGH, Lauren worked as the Senior Administrative Assistant for an innovative practice focused on the utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy and coordination of care to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic pain. Lauren's ultimate goal is to create positive, healthy change for individuals, families, and communities. She believes in the power of holistic and comprehensive care and feels EJGH's Wellness Center exemplifies this practice flawlessly. Lauren is proud to be a Team Member of EJGH, and looks forward to providing the highest quality, compassionate healthcare to the people she serves.
Marcy Naquin, Morning Lead (AM)
Marcy has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has loved every minute of it! A majority of that time she spent teaching group fitness; she enjoys the interaction with her clients in class. Her education, along with her first-hand experience of growing up over weight, has given her a genuine outlook towards everyone she works with. Here at the Wellness Center, she enjoys group fitness, meeting and helping members, performing fitness orientations and helping out with health screens with Corporate Wellness. She feels, "If you are looking to be fit and healthy... knowledge is power!"
Marcy graduated from the Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness and Human Performance. Her certifications consist of AFAA (group fitness), AEA (Aquatics), and RPM. She considers working at the Wellness Center a rewarding experience; especially having the opportunity to work with the disease management classes. "The human body is a wonderful machine that we can manipulate, maintain and improve with a little movement and a whole lot of fun!" This is not a job for Marcy, but a passion... for everyone to LIVE WELL and to enjoy the process. She believes self-acceptance is the first step to success!
Karl Lehmann, Evening Lead (PM)
Karl received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness Studies from LSU in 2007. Karl has a certification in aquatic exercise through AEA and works very closely with the Parkinson's Foundation. He also participates in numerous races, swim meets and triathlons throughout the year.
He has been a team member of The Wellness Center since 2009 as a Health Fitness Instructor. During this time he has taught water and land class and takes special pride in his very popular Parkinson's classes. Karl also performed fitness orientations and developed great exercise programs for our members.
Prior to The Wellness Center, Karl worked at Pennington Biomedical Research Center doing research on diabetes and exercise. Growing up a competitive swimmer, health and wellness has been a part of his whole life. He enjoys and takes pride in being able to share his knowledge, expertise and being able to help members daily. A quote that he likes to live by is, "There is no try, only do or do not."
