The Foundation at East Jefferson General Hospital celebrated its 7th Annual ‘Up on the Roof’ Beer Tasting presented by 1st Lake Apartment Homes on Friday evening, October 18th. The hospital’s signature event raised a record-breaking $150,000 for INSPIRE, The Foundation’s competitive grants program that provides funding for innovative and capital projects at the hospital.
The Foundation is incredibly grateful to the record 59 sponsors that supported the event and the 150 volunteers who helped make it such a success. Over 1,300 attendees enjoyed a beautiful fall evening sampling over 80 beers and incredible food from 33 restaurants, and dancing to music by The Boogie Men. Radio duo T-Pot and Stevie G. from B-97.1 FM served as emcees for the evening.
“We are so thankful to our sponsors, volunteers and the community support we received,” said Stacey Shane Schott, event chair and Senior Vice President of 1st Lake Apartment Homes. “We are humbled by the number of people who participate in this event; it shows the community’s support for EJGH.”
The Foundation presented a check to EJGH for $1 million to the hospital, its second installment for the expansion of the EJGH Cancer Center. This payment was part of The Foundation’s successful $3 million capital campaign to expand the Oncology Infusion Center. The new Infusion Center and Oncology Clinic offices are expected to open in Spring 2014.
“The hospital is so grateful to The Foundation for another outstanding event,” said Dr. Mark Peters, East Jefferson General Hospital President and CEO. “Everyone had a great time, and we raised much needed funds for programs supporting patient care. It also gave us a platform to highlight the great work being done at East Jefferson on a daily basis.”
