East Jefferson General Hospital celebrated its 45th anniversary of serving the community with its Sapphire Gala on Saturday, June 11, honoring all of those past and present who have been an intricate part of the hospital's success.
All funds raised from the event, held at the National WWII Museum, went towards The Foundation, the fundraising arm of EJGH, helping make a difference in the lives of EJGH patients and the community it serves.
The gala helped garner nearly $100,000 thanks in large part to the 450-plus patrons in attendance as well as the 2.19 carat sapphire raffle, donated by Aucoin Hart Jewelers.
The 2016 Inspire Grants were announced on Thursday afternoon with a total of $300,000 awarded out to various departments in an effort to support the mission of East Jefferson General Hospital.
Through The Foundation at EJGH, the Inspire Grants Program aims to distribute charitable contributions where needed. Through this program, all team members and physicians have the opportunity to inspire innovation and collaboration to enhance expert medicine and extraordinary care delivered at EJGH.
The Foundation relies on strong philanthropic relationships with many local businesses and corporations for financial support so that EJGH can provide excellent healthcare to this community. The Foundation is honored to call Louisiana Caterpillar one of our most generous corporate supporters as the company recently raised $60,000 on our behalf.
This year, Louisiana Caterpillar selected The Foundation as their “charity of choice” for The Caterpillar Used Equipment Managers Conference, which was held on Oct. 11-13 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans, LA. The annual conference, which draws attendees from around the country, is held in a different city every year. The host dealer picks a charity of their choice to be the beneficiary of a live auction that concludes the conference. This philanthropic tradition began in the 80’s and has raised hundreds and thousands of dollars for various charities around the U.S. This year’s live auction shattered all fundraising records raising nearly $60,000 for the EJGH Breast Care Center.
The Foundation of East Jefferson General Hospital is proud to present the 30th annual John J. Lee, Sr. Memorial Benefit on Saturday, April 2, helping raise money to contribute towards cancer care and treatment at EJGH.
This year’s event is set to take place at the Krewe of Toth Den located at 1659 St. Thomas St. in New Orleans. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with music by The New Orleans Arrhythmia kicking off at 6:30 p.m. The benefit will run until 9:30 p.m. with drinks, food, a silent auction and a $2,500 raffle. Cost is just $50 per ticket and dress is business casual.
A husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John J. Lee passed away in 1986 at the young age of 58 from colon cancer. Before his passing, John J. Lee initiated the John Lee Memorial and has since helped EJGH become one of the premier cancer treatment facilities in the region.

LivePINK is a fundraising and community outreach initiative that aims to spread awareness and education about proper breast cancer detection methods and to raise funds for the EJGH Breast Care Center. It is our belief that the more people we can educate, the more we can save. We are proud to announce that 2015 LivePINK campaign was our most successful to date. During the month of October, LivePINK raised $70,000 + with the help of 18 different community partners, educated hundreds of community members about Breast Cancer and performed over 1500 mammograms for this community.
