The Foundation at East Jefferson General Hospital celebrated its 7th Annual ‘Up on the Roof’ Beer Tasting presented by 1st Lake Apartment Homes on Friday evening, October 18th. The hospital’s signature event raised a record-breaking $150,000 for INSPIRE, The Foundation’s competitive grants program that provides funding for innovative and capital projects at the hospital.
The Foundation is incredibly grateful to the record 59 sponsors that supported the event and the 150 volunteers who helped make it such a success. Over 1,300 attendees enjoyed a beautiful fall evening sampling over 80 beers and incredible food from 33 restaurants, and dancing to music by The Boogie Men. Radio duo T-Pot and Stevie G. from B-97.1 FM served as emcees for the evening.
As a friend to The Foundation at EJGH, I want to assure you that your past and future support is vital to the care we provide to our patients and our community. The current partnership initiative continues with West Jefferson Medical Center. This potential change and the current uncertainty can be uncomfortable for many of us.
Throughout our history, we have been a cornerstone of the community as Jefferson Parish continued to grow and prosper. Today, our Parish stands as Louisiana's most prosperous Parish and that simply could not have happened without EJGH being an outstanding hospital and community partner.
However, our hospital faces its greatest era of change in our history. Changes in healthcare and the marketplace make it impossible for a stand-alone hospital, restricted to a specific service area, to compete fairly in an open market. That is why East Jefferson General Hospital is in the process of selecting a partner. This partnership will give your community hospital greater economies of scale and allow us to continue to invest in quality patient care. Most importantly, we want to accomplish this while maintaining our name and our culture of service.
On Monday, May 13, East Jefferson General Hospital physicians, staff, donors, board members, local business leaders and friends of EJGH participated in the 11th Annual EJGH Foundation Golf Classic presented by EJ After Hours Urgent Care, held for the first time at Metairie Country Club. This was the most successful tournament in its history.
"This year's tournament is a major step forward in the evolution of the Annual Golf Classic," says Marc Eagan, Annual Golf Classic Chair. "It has become, without a doubt, one of the premier events in our region. Our goal is to make this a world-class event, so that in the end, we can help advance the delivery of patient care at our community hospital. We are excited that the $95,000 raised will further support Expert Medicine, Extraordinary Care at EJGH."
The Foundation at EJGH is pleased to announce INSPIRE – the inaugural 2013 Competitive Grants Program! This year's program distributed a total of $344,614 of charitable contributions in support of the mission of East Jefferson General Hospital!
Through this program, all team members and physicians had the opportunity to inspire innovation and collaboration to enhance Expert Medicine, Extraordinary Care at EJGH. Grant recipients were chosen through the INSPIRE Selection Committee which consisted of team members, physicians and Foundation Board Trustees. The recommendations were approved by the EJGH Foundation Board of Trustees in a unanimous vote.
On a beautiful, albeit a bit chilly, evening in March, The Foundation hosted some of our most generous and loyal donors to celebrate Care, Philanthropy and Community at East Jefferson General Hospital.
Benefactors gathered in the courtyard on the hospital campus, and surrounded by the blossoming azaeleas, enjoyed an evening amongst donors and friends with music by the Joe Simon Jazz Band. They were able to learn about some of the wonderful things happening at EJGH.
EJGH President and CEO Dr. Mark Peters reflected back on 2012, a year of innovation, accreditations and accomplishments, sharing that in 2012 EJGH achieved Nursing Magnet hospital re-accreditation and became the first in the state of Louisiana to earn Heart Failure accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (which was made possible in part through participation in a heart failure study funded by The Foundation). He also proudly announced that we successfully completed a $3 million capital campaign (our largest to-date), and began construction to build a new Outpatient Oncology Infusion Center. We anticipate treating patients in the new facility in late 2013.
