EJGH physicians, staff, donors, board members and local business leaders teamed up for the 13th annual EJGH Foundation Golf Classic at Metairie Country Club. The event, held on Monday, May 11, 2015, successfully raised $110,000.  Funding from the event will be invested in various programs and initiatives at EJGH to better serve the community and continue to provide outstanding healthcare.

“It is truly inspiring to witness so many members of our medical and business community come together in support of East Jefferson General Hospital,” says Marc Eagan, Chairman of the Golf Classic Committee.  “I’m honored to be a part of this tournament and can say with conviction that this is one of the finest charity tournaments in our region.”

The successful tournament was presented by Millennium Healthcare Management. Parish Management Consultants hosted the 3rd annual Pre-party event held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Gerry Cvitanovich. The Foundation would like to thank Millennium Healthcare Management, Dr. and Mrs. Gerry Cvitanovich, Cerner and Humana, Parish Management Consultants, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant, Ralph Brennan Catering & Events, Hiller Jewelry, Cox and Gilsbar for making this the most successful event yet.

East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation recently awarded the  2015 Donna Swartzfager Memorial Awards to eight deserving team members. The recipients were selected through a highly competitive selection process.

Donna Swartzfager served the community as the Director of Medical Staff Services when she suddenly passed away from heart disease in 2010. Following her death, her devoted husband (Ken), siblings (Carol and Ronnie), children (Kelly and Kyle), and leaders of the medical staff (Raymond DeCorte, MD and the now-deceased Stan Bleich, MD), came together to create an endowed fund in her name.

The fund honors Donna’s legacy of her commitment to EJGH by supporting professional and continuing higher education, training, and certification for EJGH team members and staff of active medical staff members.

The Foundation at East Jefferson General Hospital’s 8th Annual “Up on the Roof” Beer Tasting, presented by Canon Hospice, was held on Friday, October 24, 2014 on the EJGH campus on the rooftop of its Esplanade Garage. $160,000 was raised in support of The Foundation’s Inspire Grant Program, funding projects that directly impact patient care at East Jefferson General Hospital. Over 1,500 people attended the sold-out event.

“I am tremendously grateful for everyone who played a part in making this event successful,” says Mark J. Peters, MD, EJGH President and CEO. “The funds raised will be used for projects directly impact patient care. It was a great night for our Foundation and for our hospital.”

The 2014 “Up on the Roof” event featured 60 event sponsors, over 50 select beers, 26 restaurants, and entertainment by The Wiseguys. In addition to Canon Hospice as presenting sponsor, the patron party was sponsored by the Shane and Holley Guidry Foundation.

The Foundation recently hosted its annual donor reception to thank our most generous and loyal donors.  This year’s theme celebrated Health, Healing, and Hope at East Jefferson General Hospital.

Our generous supporters gathered in the courtyard at East Jefferson General Hospital amongst fellow friends and benefactors. Marc Eagan, Chair of The Foundation Board; Mark Peters, MD, EJGH President and CEO; and Debbie Schmitz, RN, EJGH Cancer Care Navigator served as the guest speakers for the event. The Foundation at EJGH is pleased to announce the recipients of 2014 INSPIRE – its Competitive Grants Program.

This year's program distributed a total of $222,460 in charitable contributions to support various hospital projects. These funds were provided by the Foundation's two fundraising events: $150,000 in net proceeds from the Foundation's 2013 "Up on the Roof" event and $100,000 net proceeds from the 2014 Golf Tournament.

Through this program, all team members and physicians had the opportunity to inspire innovation and collaboration to enhance patient care at EJGH. Grant recipients were chosen by the INSPIRE Selection Committee, which consisted of team members, physicians and Foundation Board Trustees. The recommendations were approved by the EJGH Foundation Board of Trustees in a unanimous vote.
