2009 EJGH Foundation Annual Golf Classic Raises $56,000

On Monday, May 11th, East Jefferson General Hospital physicians, staff, donors, board members, local and national business leaders, and friends of EJGH braved the sun and high temperatures to participate in the Annual EJGH Foundation Golf Classic.  Held at the Chateau Golf and Country Club, this year’s tournament raised $56,000 to benefit health and clinical education programs at EJGH.

“We are extremely thankful for our sponsors, volunteers and participants who have made this event so successful again this year,” said golf tournament chair Louis Savoye. “All of us recognize that East Jefferson is our community hospital and that the work being done here is second to none.  By supporting events such as the golf tournament, patient education is enhanced, technology is improved, and above all, lives are being saved.  Their efforts are making a real difference in our community.”

Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard, serving as the honorary chair, led 140 golfers on a round of golf while Hole-In-Sponsor Cadillac-Hummer of Metairie and Peake BMW motivated and inspired the players to take their shot at winning a brand new car.  The golf tournament concluded with a reception featuring the tournaments awards ceremony and a silent auction filled with great items.  Staying true to the EJGH mission of serving the community, the East Jefferson CEED van was there to provide free prostate screening tests and EMS crews were on hand to promote patient education. 

“East Jefferson General Hospital has developed into a regional and national leader in health care while retaining it roots in the community,” said Stan Maher, Executive Director of The Foundation. “ Everyone who has supported the golf tournament, and The Foundation over the years, has played an important role in making that happen.  In any community, a strong health care system is considered an important quality of life indicator and ours is no different. We are proud of the fact that so many people provide the resources to make East Jefferson as strong as any hospital in the country.”
