Hospital celebrates its fourth consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade

METAIRIE, La. - East Jefferson General Hospital has been awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization committed to improving healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. This national distinction celebrates the hospital’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors. The new grades reflect performance primarily during the height of the pandemic.

East Jefferson General Hospital has been awarded “A” Hospital Safety Grade by The Leapfrog Group for the fourth consecutive time.

“We are extremely proud of our team at East Jefferson General Hospital, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible,” said Ruby Brewer, Chief Nursing and Quality Officer for East Jefferson General Hospital. “Our continued 'A' grade from The Leapfrog Group is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

Brewer added, “We know that patients have a choice when it comes to their healthcare, and we want them to know that they can trust us to provide the highest levels of safety and quality. We are honored to receive this recognition and will continue to strive for excellence in everything we do.”
